It’s that time of the year again, as this past week was host to our fall auditions. First, we would like to thank everyone who came out and auditioned. We had an incredible turnout, and thus were left to a very difficult decision. The talent level this year was remarkable, and without further ado, we would like to congratulate our six, yes SIX, new GRITs (GRains In Training): Oren Bailey, Alec Dempewolf, Ben Lykins, Alex Madill, Peter Sherk, and Jordan Williams. We are so excited to see what the future holds for our new guys as well as the group and also very blessed by the caliber of talent in the pool of candidates we had to choose from.
This year’s auditions worked a little bit differently than those in the past. In the spring, Acappology, Wolfgang, Ladies in Red, and the Grains sent their officers to meet together and decided to form NC State’s A Cappella Council. While occasionally the groups find themselves as competitors, our friendships and our unity as members of the Wolfpack forged this alliance, and we as the Grains look forward to what this means for the future of NC State A Cappella. All this to say that this past week, the four groups for the first time ever held joint auditions in Talley Ballroom. Well over one hundred hopefuls came and showed off their singing abilities last Sunday, and as said before, the level of talent of those who auditioned was off the charts. Throughout the week the four groups held their individual callbacks, and on Thursday night the final decisions went out.
Again, thank you so much to all who came and gave a cappella a shot; we truly appreciate you. Congratulations to our six new friends who we can’t wait to have join us on stage. And lastly, get excited to see what is in store for this camaraderie amongst the NCSU A Cappella groups, as well as what is in store this year for the Grains of Time!
